Arrangements for the 2014 event are well under way.
The event will formally commence on Sunday 30th
March 2014 with the Opening Ceremony at 12 noon.
Following the decision reached at the Annual Meeting of the
ICRF, in 2014, there will be eleven teams competing for the Championship
Trophy. Taking part will be four teams from Canada, three from the USA,
three from Scotland and one from England.
As a result of this decision we require two extra sessions
to complete the round robin section of the Championship competition. Having
considered all the alternatives we have decided that those teams competing for
the Championship Trophy should play their first extra games at 4pm on Saturday 29th
March and the second at 9am on Sunday 30th March. This does mean
that the Championship teams will play two games before the official opening ceremony.
Ten teams will compete in the Friendship Competition.
Accommodation has been provisionally booked with The Copthorne and Double
Tree Hilton hotels in Aberdeen. We have negotiated a very competitive rate. The hotels
are ideally situated close to a number of well known restaurants and within
walking distance of the City Centre. Details of the hotel can be found on our
website under accommodation.
We have also made provisional bookings for The Opening
Banquet, The Rotary night and the Final Banquet and again we have selected
venues that are within walking distance of the hotels. We are aware that the sun
does not always shine in Aberdeen and transport to and from these venues will
be available. See functions for
further details.
Transport to and from the rink will also be available.
A full companion’s and non-curler programme will be organised.
